The first look of the Vande Bharat Metro, which is scheduled to undergo testing by the Indian Railways, was unveiled on Wednesday. The first few coaches of the metro train were built in a factory in Punjab’s Kapurthala.

Railway sources have revealed that 50 such metro trains will be built initially and that this number will be gradually increased to an impressive 400.

The Vande Bharat Metro is designed to travel long distances and will be able to cover a range of between 100 km and 250 km. It is a marvel of modern engineering and boasts a default configuration of 12 coaches.

However, the biggest selling point of the Vande Bharat Metro train is its ability to be expanded up to 16 coaches, which allows it to accommodate a large number of passengers.

Indian Railways is currently operating over 82 Vande Bharat Express trains and is planning to launch more such trains in the future as part of its expansion. The success of these trains has inspired the launch of a new category of trains called Vande Metro.

Vande Metro trains are a short-distance variant of the Vande Bharat Express, which are primarily designed to improve suburban travel in India for longer journeys.

The Metro Express trains aim to offer passengers a rapid, shuttle-like experience at an affordable price. The Vande Bharat Metro network, as per the initial plans, is supposed to connect 124 cities within a distance of approximately 100-250 kilometres, enabling both inter-city and intra-city travel.

Some of the routes that the Vande Metro will cover include Delhi to Rewari, Agra to Mathura, Lucknow to Kanpur, Bhubhaneshwar to Balsore, and Tirupati to Chennai.
